Martha Maria Yeardley Smith (born July 3, 1964 in Paris, France and raised in Washington, D.C., USA) is an American actress and voice actor who is best known for providing the voice of Lisa Simpson (and occasionally, both on the Tracy Ullman shorts and the half-hour show, for Maggie Simpson) on the animated television show The Simpsons. She too appeared on the sitcoms ''Herman's Head and Dharma and Greg'' and guest-starred on Showtime's Dead Like Me, the Disney Channel's Phil of the Future, and the "Mathnet" segment of the Children's Television Workshop show Square One.

A select few of her film credits include The Legend of Billie Jean, Maximum Overdrive and As Good as It Gets.

She is the girl (& namesake) of J.Y. Smith, a obit writer for The Washington Post.

Yeardley admitted on The Jane Pauley Show that she had struggled using bulimia for 25 years.
